DRIMOTA BY STARCHAK

DRIMOTA BY STARCHAK

In the summer of 2021, Maria Starchak went on a "retreat" to her parents' house, located 70 kilometers from Lviv in the village of Potelych. It was there that the designer felt and rethought the meaning of land and belonging to her family. However, time does not stand still, everything changes. And only in a dream you can return home, where everything will be as before. Where will be those who are no longer with us.

— The special atmosphere of my place of strength became the impetus for the creation of a new collection. It is based on ethnicity with a modern interpretation. Hence the combination of Hutsul carpets and strict suits, colorful ties and business pants, relaxed androgyny and pronounced masculinity, says Maria.

It is interesting that each carpet has "its own destiny and wide path". For example, potatoes were covered with one of the carpets! The artist turned all the products that she came across with a similar talent into weaving using the macrame technique. This is how the "carpet - dress" transformation took place.

The designer continues to work with upcycling and architecture, giving new meanings to clothing with history. Looking for used raw materials for processing. It contains exclusively natural materials: wool, viscose and cotton. The color scheme is inspired by nostalgia and bright pictures from the past. Black, gray and chocolate are complemented by bright shades of wool rugs and silk ties. All elements of SNAP are genderless.

The shoot of the lookbook took place near the old house where the designer's family lived. In particular, grandmother-seamstress. This collection is dedicated to my dad, who loved ties, his white zhigul and Maria.
